Common questions

I didn't get my sign-in code. Check your spam folder and make sure the address is spelled correctly. Codes expire after 10 minutes; request a new one from the sign-in screen. You can also sign in with Apple, Google or a passkey.

Why does the app ask for my location? To show games, players and venues near you, and to share an "available now" beacon when you choose to. Location is only used while the app is open; other players only see a rounded distance. You can always set your area by hand instead.

How does the rating work? Every confirmed over-the-board game updates your OTB rating (Glicko-2). Both players confirm the result; a linked chess.com or Lichess account can seed your starting rating.

Where is Check-mates available? Anywhere you can find a table. Players and organizers add venues and clubs themselves, so the map grows wherever people play.

How do I delete my account? In the app: Profile › Account & data › Delete account. See account deletion for what is removed and how to request deletion by email.
